Food Lovers Tour of Florence (part 2)
What do locals eat in Florence?
In the last food lovers’ walking tour with the Divina Cucina herself, Judy Witts Francini, we visited some of the local cafes, food and wine establishments through one of Florence’s local neighborhoods, on our way to the San Lorenzo Central Market, the food lovers paradise!
Today our culinary adventure continues as Judy introduces us to the delectable and the bizzare that makes Tuscan Food among the most sought after in the world! Afterwards, we’re off to a local trattoria for a Florentine Steak lunch, and of course, desert!
In the video: get your taste buds ready for THIS culinary adventure Florence style!!Unusual Florentine Food
Truth be told, had I ventured into the Central Market on my own, I would’ve missed out on everything!! To really get the full experience of local food, culture and traditions, you need someone knowledgeable and experienced to guide you through labyrinth of shops and educate you on the plethora of products and food that’s inside this huge market. As much as I’m a do-it-yourself kind of traveler, I would NOT attempt to go through this amazing market without Judy, no way….and by not getting the most out of the San Lorenzo Market you’d miss out on the secret ingredients of Florence.
What is Chianina steak?
Sampling our way through Market left me hungry for more….more like a Florentine Steak, something you will not find in the US because the Florentine Steak comes from the special breed of the ancient Chianina cows, and no such cows exist in the US.
In the food tour video you will see what makes the Chianina steaks so special and see for yourself how ENORMOUS they are!
Our Florence Food Tour continues….be sure to watch Part 3 for more culinary adventure!
