Food Lovers Tour of Florence (part 1)
This episode is for all the foodies out there! Especially those who ALSO love Italy! Today, we’re going on a gastronomic adventure inside the Central Market in Florence with the Divina Cucina herself, Judy Witts Francini, successful cooking instructor, cookbook author, and local Florentine! This is not going to be just an olive oil and truffle tour, oh no….we’re indulging in local delicacies you WON’T find on your average tourist menu. We’re going hard core local, Florence style!!
We met Judy at Hotel Baglioni not far from the St Maria Novella train station, an excellent starting point for our tour, which takes us through some of Florence’s off the tourist path neighborhoods for a glimpse at the local life.
Judy starts the tour by introducing us to some unique historic characteristics of the city she’s passionate about and has been her home for more than 25 years. We meet some colorful locals and experts who offer us a glimpse into the “real Florence” and the locals who make it so fabulous!
San Lorenzo Central Market
Florence is famous not only for it’s incredible art and style, but for it’s legendary Tuscan food as well. And at the city’s largest market you’ll find the best products from the Tuscan countryside. Part of the culinary courses offered by Divina Cucina, is a food lovers’ walking tour of Judy’s second home: the San Lorenzo Central Market with plenty of tastings, exploring the interesting and unusual, shopping, cooking tips and ideas, and finally lunch at a local trattoria where we’ll feast on Florentine Steak, what else??
