Autumn in Tuscany at Tenuta Fanti Winery in Montalcino
Autumn is a very exciting time in Tuscany due to the Grape Harvest season that excited all the wine makers and wineries are abuzz with activity.
The hand picked grapes begin their journey from the vine to vino at Tenuta Fanti. I had the opportunity to spend time at great winery in Montalcino. Montalcino is famous for its Brunello di Montalcino, a very special wine that takes 5 years to age before it can become a Brunello. I will share more videos about wine harvest (“vendemmia” in Italian) here on A Road Retraveled on video and blogs.
Rows upon rows of vines abundant with succulent grapes destined to become the famous Brunello do Montalcino.
Not only are the grapes hand picked from the vines, but they are also picked throughout by hand to remove any “bad berries” from sneaking into the batch that continues on its journey to become future wine.
Tenuta Fanti winery is a newly constructed building where the wine making process takes place from vinification to aging and bottling.
Inside this thousand old building is the Tenuta Fanti wine tasting room and office. In its classic wine tasting room you have the opportunity to sample a variety of wines produced by the winery.
